Since 1944, my family
always had Pharaoh Hounds in Italy.
We are really known as Kelb tal-Fenek
and we are the official dogs of the beautiful Island
Nation of Malta in Europe, between Italy and N. Africa,
in the Western Mediterranean sea (50mi. S. of Italy and
220mi. NE of Tunisia in between the two Italian Islands
of Lampedusa and Sicily).
My dad bought a Pharaoh Hound while he
was studying Architecture at the University of Rome in
1975 and he told me that he was beautiful. His name was
Banù
and he grew up with his family in Trento, Italy. He told
me that he loved him very much. Before that his mother
also had a Pharaoh Hound given to her by a young soldier
during WW2. Therefore, my dad always wanted another
Pharaoh Hound since he moved to Colorado in
1982.
It took him a long time to find me,
but thanks to the contact, great help, kindness and
knowledge provided by Joyce Martin, he finally got in
touch with two wonderful people: Linda and Greg Witt, my
breeders.
In February 2002, he drove from Denver
to San Francisco area to pick me up and I will never
forget the two wonderful days we all had together with
Linda, Greg and all those beautiful Pharaohs with whom I
played so much. My dad told me that he was finally
surrounded by joyful and playful Pharaoh
Hounds!!!
After the long 1300 miles drive back
from California to Colorado through the open spaces of
Nevada, Utah and Wyoming and through several snow storms,
together with my new daddy, he told me that finally we
will never feel lonely anymore....and that is very true
because I have found a wonderful and loving family who
let me be a real Kouch King.
